Our History:
The friends of Keep Savannah Beautiful was established in 1979 by resolution of the Mayor and Aldermen in order to help the community combat litter problems. The authority changed its name in 1991, from the Clean City Advisory Council to Friends of Keep Savannah beautiful. The name was changed for the following reasons:
to improve the programs name recognition in the community,
to align the title more closely with the national Keep America Beautiful program, and
to clearly identify the program’s location and purpose which wasn’t made clear by the former name.
The authority addresses issues related to litter and assists beautification efforts on streets, sidewalks, parks and private property. The authority received its certification of incorporation on October 31, 1995 to Friends of Keep Savannah Beautiful, Inc.
